The Hari Pokharel Foundation

A Word About Us

Get to Know Us

While traveling in Nepal, our founders volunteered with Rising Lotus Children’s Village (RLCV), a Kathmandu based orphanage. RLCV is an NGO that is run by a local hero named Hari Pokharel. After living and volunteering at the orphanage for a month our founders became part of the village and Hari’s family.

Inspired by the selflessness of Hari, they decided to raise money to directly contribute on a long-term basis. Your support helps RLCV operate and prevents children from becoming part of the human trafficking crisis that is exacerbated by extreme poverty, the 2015 earthquake, and geo-political instability.

Explore our website to learn more about Rising Lotus Children’s Village in Nepal and the impact that our donations are having. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to giving 100% of funds raised to help this worthy cause.

RLCV and the Hari P. Foundation are not affiliated with any particular religious organization or dogma, and do not discriminate based on background, religion, race, or caste. We do not take or pay salaries and our board members volunteer their time to change lives by helping with the everyday operation and educational costs of children in need. Constant communication with RLCV and Hari in Nepal and regular due diligence insures that all funds go directly to the children in need.

Housing, Education, Food, Special Projects

Helping a Community of Children

At The Hari P. Foundation we believe that all children, regardless of background, deserve access to education, clean water, healthy food, and a roof over their heads. We help to provide these basic needs through quarterly donations. We contribute to ongoing operating expenses that include school tuition, tutoring, school supplies, site improvements, food, and shelter.

Recently, the Hari P. Foundation has helped fund several special projects including a new kitchen, solar lighting, and new toilet facilities.

Operation Expenditures

How can you help?

The least glamorous part of any non-profit organization is keeping the lights on. RLCV provides room/board, private education, and after school tutoring for 35 children from ages 5-16.

The orphanage employees include a full-time cook, a "house mother", and two tutors. The Director/Founder, Hari, runs the program full-time and also solicits local donations.

Although in-kind donations are possible, they can be easily "lost" through a corrupt mail system. The best support you can help provide is a tax-deductible donation for operational expenditures.

As we continue to contribute more money each quarter, the orphanage will ultimately be able to help more children.

In Nepal even $10 can provide 5-7 meals for one child.

Our promise to donors: 100% of your donations will always go directly to those in need. The Hari P. Foundation will never support organizations that promote religious exclusivity, discriminate based on race, ethnicity, caste or require specific action from the recipients.
